Jimmy Winfrey, aka Peewee Roscoe, was released from jail this past Friday after being accused of shooting at Lil Wayne’s tour bus in 2015.
Winfrey lawyer, Steven Shadow, said his client was technically released from the tour bus case in August but was transferred to Florida over a probation violation case in Florida. Now that the probation case is resolved, Winfrey is a free man.
Winfrey was originally facing 20 years in prison after being charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of a firearm by a felon, and criminal gang activity. Young Thug and Birdman were listed as co-conspirators but were never charged.
After pleading guilty to six of the 27 counts, Winfrey was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 10 years of probation in 2015. His conviction was overturned in 2018 after he appealed the ruling and claimed the judge pushed him into a guilty plea.
This past August, Winfrey has been sentenced to seven years in prison and received credit for time served. Winfrey will have to pay $100,000 in restitution to Alvin Lewis, the tour bus driver who suffered spinal cord, rotator cuff, and psychological injuries as a result of the 2015 incident.
