Fox-32’s Joanie Lum was reporting on gun violence for “Good Morning Chicago” when an unidentified man appeared to point a gun toward the news crew.
The incident occurred live on-air around 7 a.m. local time. As Lum was reporting, a hooded man appeared and pointed the firearm just a few feet behind her before walking away.
Chicago police are searching for an unidentified man who appeared to point a firearm at a TV news crew on Wednesday while it was airing a live broadcast about gun violence. Viewers later contacted the news station to express their concern.
“Thank you to the viewers who were watching Good Day Chicago and called or emailed to make sure our crew was okay,” the station reportedly announced.
As a result of the incident, Chicago police are currently searching for the man and have labeled him a “person of interest.”
