In a recent interview with Jerrod Carmichael, A$AP Rocky indicated that rap nowadays lacks progression and introspection, largely because of the way that Soulja Boy attained fame on social media.
“Rap is in its adolescence and it’s been stuck here since Soulja Boy,” he explained. “Before, everybody looked 35 and up. When Lil Wayne and Jay-Z and T.I. and Jeezy and Ross was on, rappers looked old. Like, we had Lil’ Bow Wow and that was it. That all changed with the internet and self-releasing. Now, rap is stuck in this braggadocious, adolescent space. It’s not as mature.”
It didn’t take long for A$AP Rocky’s brutally honest take to garner an indirect response from Soulja Boy on social media.
ASAP Rocky has been disclosed by N.O.R.E. Rocky will appear as the next guest on the Drink Champs podcast. Rocky’s participation follows the release of his long-awaited song “D.M.B.”
Rocky talks about directing the new video, Travis Scott copying his style, his connection with Rihanna, and the news that he’ll soon be a parent in a preview clip for the interview released by N.O.R.E on Monday. Rocky is also questioned on Kanye West’s admission that the New York rapper outfits finer than him.

According to TMZ, Swedish prosecutors believe the guy who harassed ASAP Rocky attacked his bodyguard in self-defense, after being pushed and lifted by his neck.
Senior Public Prosecutor Daniel Suneson, agrees that the unnamed man was asked by Rocky’s bodyguard to leave the area “repeatedly” before the fight began. However, Suneson says that this man may have had grounds to defend himself once the situation escalated.
Suneson reportedly requested more time, which will leave Rocky and two of his friends at the Kronoberg Detention Center until July 25. That’s when the decision will be made on how to indict the Harlem rapper.
