Federal Prosecutors Suggest R. Kelly Be Sentenced To More Than 25 Years In Prison

Last year R. Kelly was found guilty of racketeering in his federal sex trafficking case, and now his sentencing for the case is quickly approaching. Prosecutors have filed documents suggesting the time they recommend he serve behind bars for the crime.

According to TMZ, prosecutors have filed documents recommending the amount of time he should be sentenced, and they are saying that she should get more than 25 years in prison. They believe his actions are more than enough to have him locked up “in excess of 25 years.”

In the documents, prosecutors made mention of his relationship with the late songstress Aaliyah, claiming that he “began to sexually abuse her when she was just 12 or 13 years old.” They also mentioned the other inappropriate acts that he has been accused of throughout the years including the “physical and psychological” abuse of women.

The Associated Press further detailed that prosecutors wrote in the filings that the troubled singer used his “fame, money and popularity” to “prey upon children and young women for his own sexual gratification.”

    They added,

“He continued his crimes and avoided punishment for them for almost 30 years and must now be held to account.”

    R. Kelly’s attorneys argued in return that he should be given the maximum of at least 17 years in prison under federal sentencing guidelines.

Many of the women that have accused R. Kelly throughout the years were also a part of the Lifetime docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly,” which was released back in 2019. Kelly was later arrested that same year, and he has been in jail since. Some of his accusers featured in the series also testified against him in court last year before he was officially found guilty.

    R. Kelly is scheduled to be sentenced on June 29th.

The state warrant revealed an investigative conversation with the female friend Trouble was visiting at the time of his death. She is only identified as Ms. Wiliams. As previously reported, Jedidia Canty, Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office’s public information officer, revealed the woman knew Jamichael, but Trouble did not. Therefore, the incident was labeled as “a domestic situation.” Turns out, Jamichael is the ex-boyfriend of Trouble’s female friend.

She told authorities that she ended a three-year romantic relationship with Jamichael “approximately a week ago,” per the warrant. Ms. Williams and Jamicahel “lived together at this residence” prior to the break-up.

The split allegedly took place inside of the woman’s car “somewhere in Clayton County.” Jamichael and Ms. Williams were “arguing with each other about him not having a job and not helping her pay the bills.” During the conversation, Jamichael allegedly punched Ms. Williams in the nose. She reacted by calling 911, but Jamichael left the vehicle and fled the scene. Ms. Williams then also left the scene without filing a police report “because Mr. Jones fled the scene.” She claims she hadn’t seen Jamicheal since that altercation.

On June 5, Jamichael forcibly entered Ms.Williams’ apartment while she and Trouble slept in her bed inside her bedroom.

“Upon processing the scene the front door of the apartment was forced open,” the warrant stated.

She said her ex-boyfriend woke her up by punching her in the face. Afterward, a fight broke out between Trouble and Jamichael. Ms. Williams said she began “to help” Trouble, but Jamichael pulled out a gun.

As previously reported, public information officer Jedidia shared during a press conference that Trouble was shot once in the chest. Deputies say they found the rapper laying on the floor when they arrived at the apartment.

On June 6, police obtained video footage of the car the accused shooter used to enter Lake St. James Apartments, per the warrant. He arrived at 3:14 a.m. and left the scene at 3:21 a.m. So, in under 10 minutes, Jamichael allegedly forced access to his previous living space, punched Ms. Williams, and killed Trouble before fleeing the scene.

A preliminary court hearing was set for June 15 by a judge hours after Jamichael surrendered. The suspect will remain behind bars until the next hearing given that the judge denied his bond. The 33-year-old is facing the following charges: felony murder, aggravated assault, battery, and home invasion.

Arizona Cops Are Placed On Leave After Watching Drowning Man Beg For Help

Officials are investigating the death of a man in Tempe, Arizona, who drowned while cops watched nearby. The officers responded to a call about an alleged dispute between Sean Bickings, 34, and his companion before he drowned. The city described Bickings as “unsheltered.” Body cam footage of the tragedy showed the man begging for help as they calmly stood by and watched him die. The three officers involved have been placed on leave while the situation is investigated.

According to a statement released by the City of Tempe, around 5 a.m. on May 28, Tempe Police cops found Bickings and a woman at a reservoir near a pedestrian bridge. The statement said both Bickings and his partner denied any physical violence had occurred, and neither was under arrest.
Body Camera Footage Shows Man & Officers Conversing While He Drowned

Body cam footage of the tragedy has been released, showing Bickings submerging himself in the water after conversing with the cops, who warned him he couldn’t swim there. In the 11-minute video, Bickings called out for the three cops to help immediately after he jumped in.

    “I’m drowning!”

An officer then tells him to swim to a pylon, but Bickings says he can’t. One of the cops says, “okay, I’m not jumping in after you,” according to the transcript of the incident police released. At that point, Bickings’ companion pleads with the cops to help him because she knows he can’t swim.

“He is all I got. He is going to die. I can’t lose him.”

Cops finally called for a water rescue team after several pleas for help and requested help from the fire department, according to the transcript. Unfortunately, the water had silenced Bickings’ cries for help by that time.

The city said the three Tempe police officers have been placed on non-disciplinary paid administrative leave pending the investigations. They described the temporary leave as “customary” practice in critical incidents.
