During his appearance on Drink Champs, Kevin Hart defended Will Smith when asked to choose between Smith and rapper Ice Cube. Although Hart noted that both Smith and Ice Cube are his “brothers,” he chose the former. He explained that the actor was “not only a legend” but credited Smith for giving a platform to Black actors and creators in Hollywood.
Kevin also stated, “And people make mistakes, and from mistakes they should be allowed time to f**king recover,” he added in response to the hosts’ jokes about Smith, Chris Rock and the Oscar slap heard ’round the world. “And that this is no longer the world’s problem, it’s Will and Chris’ problem. Let them deal with that. The world should step out of it and let them recover.”

Dave Chappelle’s recent show for Netflix at the Hollywood Bowl made headlines as the comedian was tackled by a man who tried to lunge at him with a weapon. The incident came weeks after Chris Rock was slapped while on the Academy Awards stage by Will Smith. Funny enough, it appears that Chappelle had a bit about the entire situation in his stand-up ahead of being tackled and was candid about his thoughts on Rock being slapped.
Chappelle immediately pointed out how he felt Smith sitting back down and enjoying the rest of the evening following the slap was “gangster.” From there, he talked about Rock’s joke, saying Rock is his friend but he doesn’t have an easy “delivery.”
The comedian then addressed people who said Smith wouldn’t touch Chappelle like that. Chappelle responded by saying “Shut the f**k up, you gonna get me slapped!” Watch the portion of his stand-up above.

“Come f*** with me, that’s what you need to do. … You don’t deserve Will Smith. You deserve Yak. You deserve me. … Stop playin’ Will Smith like that. … Will Smith a stand up man, a gentleman with integrity, he knows who he is,” the rapper continued.
