  • Rajon Rondo & GF Sued for $1M After Parking Lot Altercation, Video Surfaces

Rajon Rondo & GF Sued for $1M After Parking Lot Altercation, Video Surfaces

In July, Rajon Rondo and his girlfriend got into a heated exchange with a woman in the parking lot of an apartment complex. Things got tense after Rondo confronted the woman about parking so close to his Rolls Royce, which was parked in the handicapped spot. In the lawsuit filed by the woman, Toktam Jorshari, she claims things escalated after Rondo “nudged” her, which prompted his girlfriend to intervene by punching the woman.

TMZ has since obtained surveillance video from the complex parking lot and seems to corroborate Jorshari’s claims. “In the NBA, unnecessary and excessive contact is considered a Flagrant 2 foul, which can result in a fine, ejection and possible suspension of a player,” said Jorshari’s attorneys, Eddie Tehrani & Arnold Gross from State Law Firm. “Outside the NBA, such conduct is considered an assault and battery. No man should ever put their hands on a woman, ESPECIALLY an NBA basketball player with superior height and strength. The video speaks for itself.”

Rondo’s attorney Mark. D. Baute, issued a lengthy statement in response. “Mr. Rondo tried to separate them and keep them away from each other; he did not push anyone,” “I saw the videotape in July, during the first Covid surge. Rajon Rondo had a broken thumb in a cast at the time, and his vehicle was correctly parked in a handicapped spot while he was picking up his girlfriend.”

“The plaintiff chose to park her car two inches from Mr. Rondo’s door, and the plaintiff was not in an assigned parking spot,” Baute said. “The plaintiff refused to wear a mask during a short 30-second encounter, and also refused to move her car. The plaintiff and Mr. Rondo’s girlfriend had an unpleasant encounter that lasted roughly 10 seconds, and Mr. Rondo tried to prevent them from any further interaction, which was awkward due to (a) his thumb being broken, and (b) the plaintiff not wearing a mask.”

“The plaintiff then left on her own, hired a lawyer, filed a lawsuit, and we have chosen to offer nothing, pay nothing and to defend the case on the merits, and win. The focus in July was on winning another championship with the Lakers. The focus now is on playing the best possible basketball for the Atlanta Hawks,” Baute concluded.

Jorshari claims to have suffered several injuries resultant from the altercation and is suing the couple for assault and battery. She also claims to be dealing with emotional distress and is seeking damages in excess of $1 million.

Congress recently passed a $900 billion relief package, which included $600 direct payments to American citizens, half of what most received back in March. The paltry sum has prompted the president to call for an amendment to the bill asking for more money for Americans.

“It really is a disgrace,” Donald Trump said in a video shared via Twitter. “It’s called the COVID relief bill, but it has almost nothing to do with COVID.” After listing off the things included in the bill that weren’t directly tied to the pandemic or to relief for average citizens, he said, “I am asking Congress to amend this bill and increase the ridiculously low $600 to $2,000 or $4,000 for a couple.”

Lil Baby’s project earned an estimated $19 million this year, and it is Lil Baby’s first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. The album topped the Billboard 200 chart again in June, and has 20 billion plays across various platforms and counting. My album’s strong enough to ride it out till the end, though. I almost feel like I got robbed, but I ain’t gonna stop. Everything happens for a reason.”

  • Congress Likely to Pass $900B COVID-19 Relief Deal with Stimulus Checks

Congress Likely to Pass $900B COVID-19 Relief Deal with Stimulus Checks

American citizens in desperate need of financial support as the country slowly shuts down in response to the growing cases and deaths due to COVID-19 may get some relief in Congress’s latest relief plan. According to reports, Congressional leaders and the White House are nearing an agreement on a $900 billion COVID-19 relief plan that would include stimulus checks for Americans.

In addition to stimulus checks, the bill will also include enhanced federal jobless benefits, small-business funding, and funds to distribute COVID-19 vaccines. It’s not yet clear just how much the stimulus checks will be. Sources in Washington have speculated that the checks will only be $600 for individuals, while others say the figure could be higher.

“It’s not a done deal yet. But we are very close,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. “We made major headway toward hammering out a targeted pandemic relief package that would be able to pass both chambers with bipartisan majorities,” added Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. “We committed to continuing these urgent discussions until we have an agreement, and we agreed we will not leave town until we’ve made law.”
