The murder trial of a Florida man accused of killing his girlfriend and 9-year-old daughter before attempting to murder his son in 2018 began yesterday.
Ronnie O’Neal III decided to represent himself spent his 30-minute opening statement yelling at the jury. Throughout his opening statement, the 32-year-old defending himself by claiming law enforcement and government officials tampered with and distorted evidence to make him look guilty. He also suggested that it was his girlfriend, Kenyatta Barron, who attacked their children and that he killed her in self-defense.
“The evidence is going show that we are under some of the most vicious, lying, fabricating, fictitious government you ever seen!” he yelled. “By the time it’s all said and done, you will see who is the mass murderers in Tampa Bay!”
Ronnie O’Neal is facing two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. Because he’s representing himself, he’ll be able to cross-examine his son, who was 8 years old at the time of the murder.
