  • Floyd Mayweather, Sponsored by Ethereum Token, Gets Booed at Bitcoin Conference

Floyd Mayweather, Sponsored by Ethereum Token, Gets Booed at Bitcoin Conference

Apparently, Floyd Mayweather didn’t get the memo that he was speaking at a “Bitcoin only” event.

Taking the stage on Day 1 of the Bitcoin 2021 conference in Miami, the boxer downplayed the importance of the world’s largest cryptocurrency, while repeatedly encouraging audience members to believe in themselves rather than in any one crypto token.

Mayweather and his team committed faux pas by wearing t-shirts for EthereumMax, a new Ethereum-based token that’s sponsoring Mayweather’s Sunday night fight with Logan Paul.

“Everybody in the crypto world is competing with one another, whereas I feel like everybody should be able to choose what they want to choose and go with who they want to go with,” he said. “I believe there’s gonna be another cryptocurrency just as large as Bitcoin some day,” said Mayweather. (Could he be referring to EthereumMax?)

That response drew boos from a crowd that had greeted him with a standing ovation.

The undefeated (50-0) fighter defended himself by saying, “Without no cryptocurrency, I was able to make a billion dollars. With or without any cryptocurrency, Floyd Mayweather’s going to be okay.”

Sunday’s exhibition match between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Logan Paul will find both fighters achieving lucrative but different paydays. As the boxing world prepares for the two outspoken personalities to clash, the amount of money each fighter is scheduled to make has become the topic of discussion.

According to SportingFree, both fighters will secure large purses and a share of the pay-per-view sales. However, Mayweather is expected to make considerably more than Paul.

In the sports website’s breakdown of the boxers’ earnings, Mayweather will make a guaranteed $10 million in addition to 50 percent of the PPV sales. Logan Paul will be paid $250,000 to step in the ring and will receive 10 percent of the PPV sales.

With the PPV price tag set at $50 and predictions leaning towards a record-breaking night, both fighters are expected to make millions more after their fight.

“There is no official confirmation from the promoters but if we go with reports, Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul purse would be massive for both of them,” the breakdown claimed. “The boxing legend is expected to bank $100 million from the fight however the things will depend on PPV sales.”

Considering the fighter’s percentages, Logan could make $20 million while Mayweather will make $100 million if 4 million people purchase the fight.

According to Mayweather, he’s already made $30 million from the upcoming match.
